‘A Street in Assisi’ is one of the original paintings used in the film Finding Saint Francis . In these paintings Angela Thomas was commissioned to give the audiences a glimpse into the places most closely associated with the Franciscan story. In these watercolours she brilliantly brings to life the feeling of the Italian landscape.
A Street in Assisi – by Angela Thomas
This picture was used in the film with moving computer graphics to illustrate the burning of the aristocrats houses when the citizens were liberated from the power of Conrad of Lutzen who had relinquished his grip on the city by travelling to Narni to hand over his power to the Pope’s representatives. The picture is of a typical street in Assisi that hasn’t changed that much since the time of Francis. In the film it becomes engulfed in flames.
